An Accountant looks after all finance related functions of the company. An Accountant generally has the following tasks:
- Records accounts data and provides financial information based on that. These include reports, profit and loss statement, balance sheet etc.
- Records financial transactions and recommends financial actions and options
- Prepares controls by making policies and procedures and ensures that these are followed
- Reconciliation is done with the bank and for any discrepancies that arises
- Payments are made after checking all necessary documents
- Records the receipt of payments
- Compiling with state and local legal requirements by staying updated about all new rules and laws
- Oversees audit requirements and helps in carrying out internal and external audits
